First, what is the Paleo Diet? This diet is sometimes referred to as the "caveman diet" because it contains lots of meat, fish, vegetables, poultry and fruits. There are no processed foods containing sugar, salt and also no dairy products. There are also no saturated fats, trans-fats or hydrogenated oils which can lead to heart disease and other major health problems.

By eating non-processed foods, you also eliminate many additives which are or can be harmful to your health.
The Paleo Diet being high in protein is used by many athletes to improve their strength and stamina. You could also improve your life in these areas.
Because the Paleo Diet is low in carbohydrates and calories, you will lose weight. This low carbohydrate/low-calorie diet will also help to reduce the risk of certain diseases which now are very common in our society.

Eating fruits and vegetables provides you with lots of natural fibre which can also help with weight reduction, blocked arteries and heart disease.
Why eat like a caveman?
Our bodies are not really made to process and use many of the foods that are part of today's diet. Many of the foods have been cultivated just for appearance and taste, not for nutritional value. The are not natural.

Some of the common illnesses and diseases that can be treated by eating paleo foods are acne and joint pain.
The inflammation of acne can be reduced by eating a flexible Paleo Diet for a few months to see some modest improvements in our skin. If you go on a 100% low-carb Paleo Diet, your skin should clear up within a few weeks of starting the diet.
The elimination of joint pain can also be accomplished by eating paleo. If you have a mild case of osteoarthritis, and you eat paleo, you can be pain-free as long as you stay active.
