The term Freshman 15 is coined to refer to Freshmen College students who tend to gain 15 pounds during their first year in college. There are various reasons why this gain happens. The most common is stress. Stress often causes stress eating. This may vary among students; however, majority suffers from stress eating. With this, college students need to be more conscious when it comes to their weight. Achieving one's ideal weight does not happen overnight. Sometimes, it can be a daunting dream to pursue. But then, it is possible. They only need to have a concrete goal with an action plan. The action plan will be composed of the diet and exercise plan.
What to do?
Coming up with the best diet plan is the first task that needs to be done. This planning should be taken seriously. As much as possible, consulting a nutritionist is advisable. It is because there should be a basis when it comes to the plan formulation. Students cannot just make-up their plan because they feel so. The number of calorie should be made clear. There should be a concrete goal in here. Just the same as mentioned above.
Once the diet plan has been identified already, the nerve-wrecking part will come after - exercise. The body needs to be physically active. To burn one pound of fat, 3,500 calorie needs to be released from the body. That is how difficult the entire process can be. If this sounds hard, breaking the calorie per day might help. Individuals may choose to exercise alone to lose the said calorie or they can choose to focus more on the diet plan and support it with exercise. This too will help in getting rid of extra pounds.
There are different exercises students can take part in. Among the many physical activities, walking is the most effective one. Walking does not have to be that hard. Students can walk around their village in order to do this. Walking around to attend to errands can also be done. Accumulating different exercises can also be carried out. For example, they can walk for about 10 minutes during the morning. Jumping rope for 10 minutes can also help the same with jogging. These activities can help in burning pounds. Aside from the fact that this will help students in getting into shape, these activities are also beneficial for the muscles and heart.
With this endeavor, starting off can be the hardest. But, students have to overcome the hardest part. That is where the change begins. Just start off slowly. This will not matter for as long as there is consistency. In exercising, walking should be done first. This has a very low impact on the body so; it is just healthy to walk initially. Students can walk anywhere. They can walk around the park. Just make sure to change the walk routine every now and then. The heart and lungs will be conditioned through walking. Once this happens, decide what strong exercise to do after.
