Losing Weight - It Takes More Than Dieting

Anyone can lose weight!
Do I have your attention now?
Yes it is true that anyone, no matter their present weight, can lose weight and keep it off. Many people go on a diet and lose the weight they want but put it and more back on once they finish their diet. What they need is a plan that they can follow as well as one essential ingredient - MOTIVATION!

Losing weight is a combination of proper nutrition, some exercise and a change in lifestyle.
What are these three parts?
Proper nutrition means having a balanced diet that consists of fruits, vegetables, meats and fats. Yes fats!

Our bodies need fat to help absorb the nutrients and vitamins in the foods we eat. Eating fat does not cause you to become fat. And, yes a healthy diet can include foods like pizza and ice-cream and even chocolate, but in moderation. This is where motivation can help. If you are motivated to lose weight, then you will limit your intake of the so-called "bad foods".

Now, when people hear the word exercise they immediately think of going to a gym and doing hours of strenuous exercise using complicated equipment with a trainer yelling at them to "feel the burn". This is not necessary. A simple exercise of a 20 or 30 minute brisk walk can be enough. Again, motivation is necessary to go out and do this everyday. If you take a bus to work or school a simple way to get this exercise is to get off of the bus one-stop earlier or one-stop later and walk that last distance to work or school.

A change in lifestyle is harder. Any change to our habits takes time to achieve. We become creatures of habit and easily fall back into our old ways. Motivation again comes to play. By being motivated to lose weight, you will lose the weight you want by burning fat while maintaining muscle and eliminate the bounce that typically occurs when you finish your diet
There are fat burning foods and additives that can increase the rate of burning your body's fat as well as keeping your metabolism operating at full speed.

This will ensure that the production of leptin in your body remains high. Leptin is necessary to burn fat and when you diet your body produces less of this hormone which can mean that you do not lose weight.
Many diets do not understand the importance of leptin and do not include methods of keeping your leptin levels high. That is why many people gain all of the weight they lost and more when they finish their diet.

So a combination of proper nutrition, plus exercise plus motivation will help you to lose weight and keep it off.
